Doha Center for Media Freedom (DCMF) along with representatives of international, regional and national human rights and freedom of expression organizations, participated in a solidarity stand for Al-Jazeera to show support for the network who is facing demands to be shut down by Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Bahrain, and Egypt.

Representatives from about two hundred human rights, media outlets, and freedom organizations, participated in the stand that took place at Al Jazeera headquarters in Doha today on the sidelines of the International Conference on Freedom of Expression organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) on July 24-25 in Doha.

Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt cut diplomatic ties with Qatar and imposed sanctions on the country on June 5, accusing it of supporting "terrorism", an allegation Doha has rejected as "baseless".

Earlier last month, the Saudi-led coalition gave Qatar  13 demands to end the crisis, insisting, among other things, that Doha shut down Al Jazeera, close a Turkish military base and scale down ties with Iran.
